Don MacLaughlin retired from a career in engineering to become a rancher in Montague County, Texas, raising Beefmaster cattle and enjoying the country life. He didn't begin his third career as an artist until 2004 after taking art classes at the University of Mexico in Taos and NCTC in Texas. Inspired by details of ordinary life, Don likes to paint images in oil both from live models and from photographs. He captures the inner thoughts and feelings of his subjects and strives to find the beauty in everyday things. He is involved in a number of community and charitable activities, and is a member of several art associations. His paintings can be found on the walls of several businesses and private homes throughout Texas and New Mexico. His work can also be seen on his website: www.maclaughlinranch.com.
